The Guest Edit: Laura Bailey
For this week's guest edit I asked Photographer, model and writer, Laura Bailey for her current essential picks for Summer, from fashion to homeware and more.
Laura Bailey is a London based photographer, model and writer. A long - term contributor to British Vogue, Laura has also worked with the F.T. , the Sunday Times, Vanity Fair, Harper’s Bazaar and more alongside an international modelling career. She is an Ambassador for Save The Children, the mother of two teens, and a tennis addict. If I were to describe Laura’s style it would be a dream combination of classic pieces with an added edge, which is exactly what this edit is. Here are 7 of Laura’s picks for summer, from the day to day classic essentials to the fun investments that will add a twist to your everyday.
1. Chanel - Red Acetate Shades
Big black cat eye Chanel shades are my uniform but I’m craving colour for summer and this poppy red square style gives a high intensity boost to any mood with a slightly retro sixties feel.
2. Alex Eagle Studio - The Ribbed Vest in Black (or White)
This is an absolute style staple for me, whether I’m on the tennis court, layering up over swimwear or wearing under my Alex Eagle tomboy black tailoring (eyes on the pinstripe suit for fall..).
A young kim Basinger epitomises my fantasy summer style - undone, athletic, sensual..
Individual and effortless for work and play- I also look to the classic and iconic- from Deneuve to Bianca Jagger aswell as heroes such as Sir David Attenborough & Jane Goodall for inspiration in all senses.
3. Greta Bellamacina - Who Will Make The Fire
This volume of poetry will travel with me this summer, evocative and transporting.
I am in awe of my multitalented friend who’s new book also makes the perfect gift - I love to give favourite books as thank yous or just because..
4. Maison Michel - The KIKI Boater
Just trying this on transports me to my favourite places in the South of France or the Amalfi coast.
I’ll wear it with a man’s shirt over a bikini to hike and then linger over a long lunch with friends come summer.
5. Alex Eagle Sporting Club - The Hampstead Bikini
I’ll be travelling light this summer - and this bikini helps me edit and refine my beach packing. I‘m drawn to a sporty minimal aesthetic - I’ll be pairing this with the AESC Berwick shorts or my favourite old Levi cutoffs (and an AESC Tennis Club cap of course!)
6. Josh Wood Colour - The Miracle Mask
This is my wonder hair product. In summer I use it generously as a conditioner, especially post sea swimming and daily tennis.
They make a travel size too which is ideal for an overnight adventure.
7. Counter Editions - Art Prints
I always keep an eye on Counter Editions’ charity collaborations. For example currently available online now, they have an exclusive limited edition series by Tracey Emin in support of the National Portrait Gallery and look out for the diverse portfolio supporting Magic Breakfast- a brilliant charity working hard to make sure no child starts the day too hungry to learn.
And if you have a chance this summer take a trip to Margate - home of the Carl Freedman Gallery and Counter Editions ~ and the Tracey Emin Artists Residency.
